So I actually read the article, even though there are huge outstanding questions on the nature of ownership, that’s actually not what the court argument is about:
Replying to Ubisoft’s argument that the statute of limitations is up, the plaintiffs responded with their own photos of The Crew’s packaging, which states that the activation code for the game doesn’t expire until 2099; that’s an example of how Ubisoft “implied that [The Crew] would remain playable during this time and long thereafter,”
Well yeah… software as a service is a thing but Ubisoft is straight up lying…
My two cents: no one is expecting online services to be up forever, so imo the correct solution is open source the game after the company meets their 10 (or 20) year obligation which should be clearly pointed out during the initial rental agreement (shouldn’t call it purchase)
Cause no one is stopping you from going to said instance and just having the discussion there.
If there was this super important leak that needed to be out there, if it’s posted on a right wing instance that is a defederated ghost town, it’s still out there. People can link to it and leverage the instance to have the needed discussions.
Censorship means removing access, defederation does not wipe it off of the Internet.
So they shutdown because they couldn’t federate with any other instances and considered that censorship
Damn, I actually didn’t see that coming, I guess they will move the goal post from any starting point.
Do they still exist? I’m honestly curious if they are active or if it’s abandoned
Not only that, I’ve tried pitching the fediverse to right wing people, but they didn’t bite.
Even the crypto bros that were all about decentralization couldn’t see why a decentralized social media platform was superior.
This also didn’t matter for people who care about “free speech”.
You think the allure of being fully independent and having your own instance would be right up their alley given how they value independence, but nope.
Seriously? Why isn’t there a right wing instance? My guess is that a right wing person can’t fathom owning something that benefits others which doesn’t give them back profit.
Serious question.
They didn’t put this on Canada right? So shouldn’t prices in Canada stay relatively low?
Wouldn’t China want to buy more from Canada and vice versa?
Surely corporates won’t price gouge this time

Australia never had an empire, maybe it’s time?
So is it all caps these days all the time?
Such old man yells at clouds vibes
It’s gonna be the golden age of piracy ya’ll.
Time and time again they keep “fixing” piracy with good access (Netflix, steam) and then spend the next decade(s) ruining it.
V for vendetta is my go to for a political movie.
Some thought that cartoonish villains taking over western countries while the rest of the world went to shit was far fetched but here we are.
Sooooo anyone want to offer income tax cuts in favour of wealth taxes?
No…? No one…?
It’s been my plan to travel the world and then travel Canada when things turned to shit.
I guess that is happening way sooner.
While I haven’t convinced anyone, I have seen things shift to a more class conscience level.
Luigi might have been the turning point. Slowly right wing spaces are turning anti rich.
I haven’t been able to convince anyone, but I’ve gotten people to agree if I just focus on “I want this in my country cause it would benefit me as a working class man”.
So imo it’s less about going head on and more about finding something you could agree with and just solidifying that, if they are gonna move left it’s gonna happen slowly by them observing their life.
What the fuck…
Never misses a chance to grift I guess.
A post about technology on the technology community?
What year is this?
That makes no sense.
He is given a soccer ball to fight with
Okay that makes a tiny bit more sense but still very ridiculous.
No one is pointing out that this was inevitable result of having more options.
When I was a kid, sure we had TV and video games, but they weren’t much. There was no big library, all the better graphics games were recent, and realistically you got a few games a year.
Me and my friends went to the movies cause there honestly wasn’t much better things to do. Having a home theatre meant having a tiny screen and a handful of movies you’ve seen many times if you happen to have a VCR. TV reruns were super old and had 5 mins of ads every 15 mins.
Did they really expect teenagers to be desperate to see a new flic when it’s no longer the only way to see new content?
As a general game fan, I hope they make a great game!
The main good thing about blue sky is that it kind of taught people that jumping ship is always an option.
Which is a good lesson overall.
